Catching up

I haven't put much effort into this blog since we half heartedly started before we got married. Just haven't had the time. But, I realized I just need to make the time, because our life is slipping away and I'm not recording any of it. The one post we have before this, if you can't tell, is our townhouse before it was finished. I'd take pictures of it now that its done and totally cute, but that would mean I would have to clean it first!

Well....First a list of things that have happened in the last 6 months (pictures to follow):

1. Got married December 13, 2009! Great Day...tons of snow that came out of no where. Really, no where. When I woke up at 6 that morning, there was no snow, and by 10:00 we could barely make it up the hill to get to the temple. It was beautiful, nonetheless, even though many people decided not to risk the snow to get to Logan. We missed them, but we're glad they're safe.

2. Went on our honeymoon for 8 days to Jamaica. It was really wonderful, especially after all the snow in Logan we left behind. It was a little hard to come home after all that warmth, especially since we got stuck for an extra 18 or so hours in Atlanta. We managed to make it home for Christmas, if just barely, and we had a wonderful Christmas with our families, and it was really nice to have my brother home from his mission this year!

3. Moved into our awesome house January 8, 2009. We were supposed to close before we left, but we were pushing the builder hard to finish it in time, and we ended up staying in my mom's spare room for a few days before things became finalized. It stressed everyone involved out, but we're especially happy about our new place, and feel very blessed to be in a situation that permitted us to buy our first home.

4. Austin started school for his first semester and I started in on my last semester. After much deliberation before we got married, Austin decided his plan for school would include getting a bachelor's (and possibly concurrent master's) in mechanical engineering at USU before we head off to law school so he can become a patent attorney. We're not sure where we'll end up (where ever we get accepted most likely) but we hope for BYU law. I have an aunt who graduated from there and their law program gets rave reviews from her. Plus, it would allow us to stay paying in-state tuition. We are glad though that we only had to be in school at the same time for one semester. After the experience for the last few months, we wouldn't put ourselves through that again willingly.

5. March 2009: I started an internship with the marketing director for the urban north region of the Intermoutain Healthcare medical group (you are no longer allowed to say IHC...its like a swear word around there since the logo change...don't ask me). It has been especially difficult for us, since it takes up a lot of my time and I'm still maintaining 40 hours a week of typing for my job I actually get paid to do. Austin has been extremely accomodating, even when I am too exhausted to feed him something decent. He has even gone so far as to help me out willingly on his only day off to set up and work events we've been doing (Safe Kids Day, Ogden Marathon, and soon to come the Syracuse Clinic Grand Opening). He's been the best husband I could ask for. When I get myself overwhelmed with my whole situation and break down (about once a week) he's there to comfort me. He has the kind of personality that seems to just absorb bad feelings around him and diffuse situations. He never speaks harshly to me, even when I clearly deserve it. I have never been treated so well by someone in all my life. I am truly blessed to have found him. I actually really love my internship, its been a lot of fun. I just haven't quite got the hang of fitting my life around 65+ hours of work, plus driving to Layton a few times a week.

6. May 1, 2009: I graduated cum laude from Weber State University in health administrative services. I am so glad to be done with school. I'm excited to have my life back under control and be able to do a few things I'd like to do for once.

7. May 2009: Austin started summer semester off with 2 month long spanish classes. I don't think we knew what we were getting into there. They are very time consuming and I hardly see him. I'm glad they will be over in a couple of weeks. He has 3 other classes the rest of the summer, but should be less time consuming overall. I am proud of him for his ambition to get done! This will all be worth it when we get done with school.

Well that is all I can think of for now, and I can't find the camera, so pictures of all this stuff is going to have to come later. I'm hoping to update at least once a week, but ya can't hold me to that.
